McGraw-Hill Construction recently released a SmartMarket Report examining the many benefits of modular construction, entitled “Prefabrication and Modularization: Increasing Productivity in the Construction Industry”.
The report focuses on how new technology, such as the Building Information Modeling (BIM) software utilized by Whitley Manufacturing, allows for increased productivity through the use of prefabricated and modular components that can seamlessly be integrated into a larger structure.
A survey of over 800 architecture and engineering professionals found:
- 66% report that project schedules are accelerated by modular components;
- 65% report that project budgets are reduced by modular components;
- 77% report that construction site waste is decreased by use of modular components.
The Modular Building Institute (MBI) has made several downloads available pertaining to the report. Download the report here. Download the podcast here.
