About Echo Glen Children's Center
Echo Glen Children's Center in Snoqualmie, Washington, provides treatment services for youth offenders. They provide educational services for a wide range of youth with varying needs. The medium / maximum security facility is not fenced, but bordered by natural wetlands.
The Echo Glen Children's Center needed to add a pair of classrooms to accomodate educational programs delivered in collaboration with the Washington State Department of Health and Social Services. The building needed to be secure while providing an attractive aesthetic, durable and sustainable construction, and specialized casework and systems - the majority of which was to be completed off-site.
Pacific Mobile selected Whitley-Evergreen, located in Marysville, Washington, to construct the modular classroom building. The pitched roof sections with clerestories were also prefabricated and then installed on-site. The building features an open interior with dual-glazed, Low-E clerestory windows above.
The exterior is finished with complimentary fiber cement products (an 8" reveal lap siding and panels with alumnium reveal trim). The interior is finished with sustainable resilient flooring and carpet tile with extensive laminate custom casework with Corian solid-surface tops. Lighting is provided by efficient CFL, pendant fluorescent, and LED fixtures.
