About Wellesley
Wellesley, Massachusetts is an affluent community near Boston and very particular about urban planning and quality of life in their community. Their school system has a reputation for excellence and creativity.

Their Need
The Wellesley public school corporation decided that they needed to establish a separate
building for the community pre-school. The site available, however, presented a variety of
challenges including traffic, drainage concerns and neighbors who were very skeptical of the
project . The school board, Williams Scotsman’s sales representative Brian Turner and architects HMFH of Cambridge all worked to find positive solutions to each concern. Consequently, it was understood that the planning phase of the project would be longer and more complex than the typical construction project. That meant that any delays could be very costly to the school board if the facility was not ready for spring classes.

The Whitley Solution
Williams Scotsman worked closely with the school board to design a building that dampened noise, resolved area drainage problems and fit architecturally into the surrounding community. They turned to Whitley to construct the 9,000 square foot, 18-module facility that included offices, classrooms, restrooms, special needs rooms and a large common area. The interior was thoughtfully designed and decorated with children in mind. While planning continued, Whitley began construction of the modules in early August and finished the building in late September. The building was ready for preschoolers by the first of the year. Everyone was pleased with the outcome and the school board has returned to Williams and Whitley to construct additional facilities.
