About Wayne State University
Wayne State University is a major institution of higher education in the Detroit area. They also have a growing sports program for a rapidly expanding student population.

Their Need
Wayne State’s grand stand was built in the late 1960s, as was their press box. The press box was deemed temporary until the late 1990s when strong winds and accumulating age turned temporary into unusable. The school needed a
new structure, obtained bids for a site-built structure and immediately suffered
sticker shock.

Our Solution
By chance Wayne State had asked for a bid from an architectural firm familiar with modular structures. The modular price was within Wayne State’s original budget so the project went forward. In fact, from the day the supporting beams began to take shape to the ribbon cutting ceremony just two weeks
passed. The two-story building features almost 1,600 square feet of space with a suite for the president, plenty of space for the press to spread out, rooms for opposing coaching squads, a room for camera operators and space
for the scoreboard manager. In the first floor main room the two rows of seats are at staggered heights to allow the back row an unobstructed view over the heads in the front row.
