About Columbus Preparatory School
Columbus Preparatory Academy is a charter school in Columbus, Ohio, that is set up on a rolling, wooded hill site. It is a school that stresses high academic achievement with the goal of student admission into top-ranked colleges and universities.

Their Need
CPS planned at first to renovate their existing building section-by-section. Plans did not work out and they were forced to employ modular to accommodate all of their 450 students.

The Whitley Solution
Completed in only 52 days, the modular school had space for everyone. Energy efficiency heating and cooling systems insured minimized operational costs. Other savings came from design modifications. Further, the use of energy efficient fixtures and equipment provided the owners with a relatively cheap school to operate. Energy savings would yield a return on investment in less than a year, a very quick return on investment and a point that helped sell the modular building as a permanent solution to CPS’s needs.
