Wachusett Regional High School
Wachusett RHS is a large collector school in Holden, Massachusetts.
Holden is located in the rolling hills of Central Massachusetts, just
north of Worcester, and about forty miles from Boston. The original
Wachusett High School was constructed in 1952 and has served as the
region's exclusive high school since then.
With a rapidly growing student population, Holden needed a large
addition to their existing high school building. Also, the building was
needed for the coming school year and could not be started until the
end of the then current school year. It was a very short construction
timetable. The school board also wanted a very durable, easymaintenance
facility to withstand the least respectful of students.
The 30,000 square foot cafeteria and classroom building was constructed
in 37-modules. Work was begun in the late spring and successfully
completed in time for the beginning
of the fall semester. There were
no disruptions to students or teacher. It
was also built with “student resistant” floor and wall coverings,
as well as fixtures. Additionally, the building was
awarded first place in international
competition at the 2003 modular industry
