A Very Beautiful Building
"It is just fabulous," said the manager of the pictured credit union branch in the eastern Michigan. "It is open, spacious, rich-looking and very functional." Of course, the manager had to say, "no one could tell it is a factory-built building." Not unusual.
Certainly, with expansive windows, glazed tile floors, oak trimmed teller stations, translucent glass block windows and many other quality details, the building is a joy to visit. The outside is also impressive with classic brick walls, the brick-columned entrance portico, and the covered drive-thru all topped by a dusty green standing seam steel roof. Hard to tell it's "factory-built."
But that was exactly what sold it. The customer was in a hurry and wanted more value for less, so Whitley delivered quickly. They were impressed that they could put their investment capital to work 40 to 50 percent faster, some five months quicker, than with site-built construction. But, what really sold the branch manager was the quality of the construction and the beauty of the building. "It's solid," he said. "People sit in the lobby and just look around from one side of the room to the other." He added that the credit union staff "just love it" and have encountered very few problems.
Some of the work was done at the site. Whitley worked with contractors and engineers to add many details and touches to the inside and outside to give the building an even richer look.
Obviously, the building looks as good as any credit union or bank branch built these days, we are proud to say.
Take a look.
